The temple ends are fitted with a removable rubber insert. When this is removed, the temples have less contact surface at the back, so there is less pressure on the head. Furthermore, women's hair no longer gets caught on the rubber.

When the rubber is in the temple, it has an anti-slip effect. This can be an advantage when the glasses are worn without a helmet.
